Found this on the Wisconson DOT website... they have a Rustic Roads Award Program for motorcycles. Ride 10 of their 101 Rustic Roads, and get a patch; 25 gets you a state certificate.

Hey, it isn't much, but the nearest one I know of (Snake Road, west of Lake Geneva on Highway 50) has a lot of examples of those curves you warn students about, with a low speed limit so that it isn't dangerous. Could be fun!

[updated number of roads... three new ones added since this post went up, but their page says there are now 103... it lies, because 102 and 103 haven't been posted yet]

But people will gladly skip right to 'sudden death-capable' with cars and bikes." - me

I've printed out the lower counties and found tha I have already ridden quite a few of them just wandering around.

I think I'll go for the patch.

Just spent some time with Streets & Trips and, starting at IL47&173, we can hit every Rustic Road in Walworth, Kenosha, and Racine counties in one easy day, or 5 hard hours. That's 12, enough for the patch, and almost half way to the certificate. It doesn't cover EVERY part of all the routes, but it covers the parts we missed Sunday that aren't closed for bridge replacement...

Because it dumps us up north (just doesn't work out to loop back to Lake Geneva), I figured we could get lunch at East Troy, then hit Snake Road on the way back, without spending as much time in the engine-over-heating LG traffic jams.
